Blog #7- Discipleship
- What did you learn about the original disciples from the group projects? From each of the presentations I learned the basics on each disciple. I learned their background information, like for example Andrew was the first disciple to follow Jesus. I also learned about their occupations like, John was previously a fisherman. I also learned that Simon the Zealot was passed away by crucifixion. Furthermore, James the greater was known to be the first
apostle to be martyred. I learned that Peter was buried in St. Peter's Basilica. - Which disciple did you find most interesting and why?The Disciple I found the most interesting was Peter. I found Peter most interesting because he is the disciple that Jesus built a Church off of. He also healed men over 40. He was also one of
the original disciples. I also find it fascinating that the most important Church in the world, St. Peters Basilica is named after him. From hearing Bible stories, I felt like Peter was closest to
Jesus. - Based on what you learned, what are the characteristics of people who follow Christ?
All of the disciples before they knew Jesus or became a apostle were sinners. They were all
ordinary people living simple lives as fishermen, tax collectors, farmers, etc. Once they met
Jesus, they all became devoted to spreading the Word of God. All of the disciples were known for benefitting the Christian community. For example, James the Lesser wrote the first Catholic Epistle. They all died as martyrs, with the exception of Judas who hung himself. - This picture is of Saint Peter. I chose this because I found him the most interesting.Do you feel that you display any of these characteristics? Why or why not?I feel like I spread the word of God. In religion class, we are taught to share what we know about Jesus to others. At night, me and my family gather around the table and pray. I also share what I learned in my religion class with my peers. The disciples were devoted to Jesus and I amdevoted to Jesus, family, and peers. For example, community service is a good way to showyour devotion to God's creations. I display devotion in my everyday life.
